Working in the wilderness offer many opportunities to discover new places and experience amazing adventures such as Horse pack trips or hiking trips to alpine camps. Two weeks ago, I got the chance to visit Brett camp, which is one of the most beautiful camps around here.
I woke up early in the morning and one of our staff members drove me to the trail head where one of the guides from Chilcotin Holidays was waiting for me with our horses. We rode up hill through trails covered with trees and amazing views to mountains, lakes and creeks. As we were getting closer to the camp, we could see the pines and the ground covered with snow which made everything look even prettier.
After 2 hours of riding, there it was, a rustic log cabin surrounded by nothing but mountains. We unpacked our horses and we could not wait to go inside to enjoy a warm cabin and delicious meal. My favorite thing about this cabin was the wide window in the back which had an amazing view to the mountains.
Once we satisfied our appetite, we decided to go hiking to one of the lookouts around the camp. The snow was high but we managed to reach the top of the mountain to delight ourselves with a 360 degree mountain view and even got the chance to see for the first time Big Horn sheep.
Later that day, we hobbled the horses and let them free to graze while we enjoed our dinner and cozy cabin. The next morning we woke up really early in the morning to look after the horses, saddle them and get ready to ride back to the Ranch.
The ride back was as amazing as the ride up. Even though it was a short stay, I got a great experience and I hope I can come back soon!
